Books Are Like Drugs

I love to read paranormal books, romance and dystopian books. I work with medications issues all day and like to read books that get me away from the real world.

Wayward - Ashley Girardi I really enjoyed this book. Ashley Girardi seems to have the writing style of Melissa delaCruz, but a very different story line. I thought it was an exciting plot line and I enjoyed reading about the characters. This was a quick read that i had a hard time putting down. The heroine, Hex, is a teenager who was born without magic into a powerful magical family. There were a couple of things in the story line that I did not think were added to the story that were very relevant. If those had been explored more, this book would have been even better. I enjoyed the book and would definitely read more books in this series. This book is definitely good for teen paranormal fans. Some parts of this book are written seemingly to be geared towards adults and some are very teen angsty. I saw some of the previous reviews mention editorial mistake, and I saw those as well, but no more than I have seen in mass produced books lately.***Spoiler alert ***There were 2 things that confused me in the story. Throughout the story the fact that Hex does not have magic is often referred to. Then, at some point, she has magic. There is no development of this that I noticed, so it sometimes confused me. Second, I was somewhat confused as to the nature of Hex and Valentine's relationship. There is a pretty big deal made of the face that they were gone together for a time period, yet very little is revealed about what happened in this time period. It was almost like there was a prequel that I did not get to read.
